The film is set in Mexico during the forties. Ignacio Jurado is a quiet, solitary valet. His days with no surprises are spent between Café Ofélia and his collection of pornographic photographs. His life, however, takes a different turn with the arrival on the scene of Lola, a self-destructive prostitute with an unpredictable temperament. A sadomasochistic relationship with no limits is established between the two. Ignacio is capable of anything to be regarded as deserving Lola’ love. This even includes assassinating Spanish dictator Franco. The film is a free interpretation of a short story by Max Aub.
