Surrounded by a labyrinth of river Parana and its waterways meandering through lush wilderness, Alvaro lives a simple, lonely life harvesting reeds and fishing. In this remote delta of Argentina lost in time, where islanders are a silent and melancholic people, Alvaro’ homosexuality aggravates his isolation. The only link between this boundless territory and the city is the water-taxi “El León”. Its captain, El Turu, is a violent and intolerant man, but also respected by the community whose only way to navigate is in make-shift crafts, ill-adapted to long trips. In this context, El Turu feels threatened by Alvaro’ “difference” and is set on harassing him. But El Turu’ scorn masks an inner turmoil.
