February, 1988, in the midst of the Iran/Irak war, Ako, a young Kurd, who has been obliged to enlist in Saddam Hussein?s army, dreams of fleeing the country. However, his wife, Selma, does not wish to leave her father. At the battle front, Ako regards himself as lucky when he is detailed off to transport the body of a dead soldier back again to his family. The driver who is taking him, however, is Arab and loathes the Kurds. The two rivals will have to travel a long journey, all the way through Irak, and the profound differences between them will come to the surface, especially when they face the contradictions of a country torn by warfare.
