A tragicomedy on the drama of Martin, an ambitious man who is about to start his doctorate when he discovers he is suffering from cancer in the testicles. He submits to surgery and loses one testicle, but the cancer has spread and the doctor says he will have to have another operation that may render him sterile. Martin is terrified that he may be losing his virility permanently, and opts for long painful chemotherapy, a treatment that can not offer him any guarantee. The hospital wing with cancer patients becomes his new home and the other patients, his new friends. He falls in love with Susanne, a patient like himself, but a feeling of failure is forever with him. Convinced that he needs his testicle back again to recover once and for all, Martin invests all of his energy in a search to find it.
