Guitarrist and vocalist Sungwoo has achieved almost all he wanted. He started a rock band when he was still in college, the Waikiki Brothers, and he lives for his music. Now he is back in his home town, Suanbo, in Korea, for a short tour. His attention turns to the keyboard player, invariably in a complicated situation because of women. Another he has to keep an eye on, is the drummer, on drugs and addicted to games. Even so, he is happy. Sungwoo also sees Inhee once more: she was his great love 15 years previously. Today, she sells vegetables and expects to renew her former relationship. He also meets up with his college friends, those who were part of the early days for the Waikiki Brothers, but who today are adults who resent the fact they did not follow their dreams. Waikiki Brothers is a good-humored drama about the multiple paths of life.

IM SOONRYE

The Korean director was born in 1960 and graduated in English literature and theory of cinema by the Han Yang University. Her first film, a short film Promenade in the Rain (1994) was awarded prizes at the festivals of Seoul, Clermont Ferrand, Hong Kong, and Fribourg. Three Friends (1996), her first feature, won the Netpac prize for the best Asian film at the Pusan International Film Festival. Waikiki Brothers is her second feature.
