A look over the photography in films by the lenses of some of the main professionals in recent Brazilian cinematography. Dib Lutfi, Edgar Moura, Fernando Duarte, Pedro Farkas, Walter Carvalho, and Mário Carneiro – who died in September 2007 at the age of 77 – express a little of their background as directors of photography and reflect about their work, the filmmakers they’ve worked with, their senses about Cinema in particular and what it represents to the world. Cristina Leal also proposed a challenge: the six of them would film exactly the same scene but, after personal choices, be it a preferred camera movement, a special lightning or the equipment to be used, each one of them would reveal their unique style.
