"Ahmad is a taxi driver in Jakarta who is addicted to sex. The kind of sex he would buy if he could afford to, but which he can only experience alone in front of his television or when secretly masturbating inside his taxi. A flicker of hope appears in his life when he falls in love with his neighbor; a prostitute named Kinar, and begins to act as her driver. However, her pimp is not happy with the newly formed friendship. The conflict between his desires and the moral pressures exerted by his religion only confuse Ahmad, who wants nothing more than to save Kinar and himself from this sinful life."

Born in Japan, 1975. He studied at the University of Wales and moved to Indonesia. He made his feature debut with Banyu Biru (2005), followed by Ruang (2006), Badai Pasti Berlalu (2007), Namaku Dick (2008), Ruma Maida (2009) and Lovely Man (2011). Something in the Way is his seventh feature film.
