In Iran, two young filmmakers intend to make a documentary on illegal immigration. They offer a goodly sum of money to a smuggler and manage to convince him to allow them to go along with a group trying to cross the frontiers of the country. No sooner has the journey begun than one of the emigrants takes umbrage at the filming. Under pressure, the organizers expel the filmmakers and leave them alone out on a desert road but nevertheless ready to make the documentary. In spite of all the difficulties, they are once again included in the group. This time, however, they have a chance to reach their objective so long as they can convince the police that have held the group up that they are actors on a film on emigration and not emigrants in fact. Convinced, the police let them go. What then follows is a story of escape and hope. By degrees people agree to talk, but find it difficult to express the reasons and the hopes that have led them to exile.
