Kiyoko and her husband are ceramists. They live in the city of Shigaraki, in the seventies. No woman was allowed, in those days, to have a kiln of her own. Kiyoko changed not only this, by acquiring her own kiln: she was also pioneer in creating the first bone marrow bank in Japan. Her son, Ken-ichi, had leukemia, and Kiyoko converted her house into a hospital to be able to treat the boy. Based on a true fact. The director was a year writing the script and interviewed the real Kiyoko several times over.

BANMEI TAKAHASHI

Born in 1949, in Nara City, Japan. He began to direct films during the student movement in the seventies, at the age of 23. Director, producer, and script writer, he studied at the University of Waseda and directed more than 50 films in the period between 1976 and 1981. In 1984, he founded his own company, Blow-up Inc. His films include Tattoo, A New Love in Tokyo, and Rain of Light.
