Ruy and Tito are friends and musicians, dreaming of success in Cuba. Tito is married to Caridad, with two children by her, but his marriage came to an end a long while ago. In the apartment they share, he is more of a guest than a husband and sleeps in a separate room from his wife. Tito lives with his grandmother. Both musicians insist on their art, but what they earn, with concerts produced at great cost, with other musicians, is barely enough to eat with. One day, they learn that two Spanish producers are in Cuba searching for new talent with intent to take musicians to Europe. Ruy and Tito invest all of their energy to seize on this that would seem to be the greatest chance of their lives.
