Two great friends, of the same name, and with one same determination: to get off the road and hit a trail in a desert region. Both Gerries would never imagine that a mere thirst for adventure would be a threat not only to their friendship, but also to their very survival. Before their eyes, the minutes fly and soon become hours and days. Survival for both becomes risky and, in face of this, all of the beauty of the place is lost and makes no sense whatsoever. Their friendship is going to be put to the test as never before. Gerry was filmed in the Valle de la Luna National Park, in Argentina, in Death Valley, in California, and in Wendover, in the state of Nevada.

Nasceu em Kentucky (EUA), em 1951. Estudou na Rhode Island School of Design. Mudou-se para Nova York , onde dirigiu filmes publicitários , e depois para Portland, Oregon. Dirigiu curtas como The Discipline of D.E. (80). Realizou videoclips para David Bowie, Elton John, Tracy Chapman e Red Hot Cili Pepers. Seu primeiro longa foi Mala Noche (87). Dirigiu em seguida Drugstore Cowboy (89, exibido na 14º Mostra) e Garotos de Programa (My Own Private Idaho, 91), com River Phoenix e Keanu Reevers. Lançou um livro de fotografias intitulado `108 Portraits`.
