Second part of "Lunar Trilogy", de Chang Wai-hung (the first being The Crescent). This is silent meditation on modern relationships, following up on some of the characters in an emotional crisis. The story unfolds, most of the time, in the streets in an endeavor to capture the flavor of the city of Hong Kong at the end of the Millenium. Ling wakes up there in a stranger?s bed, having, for the first time, experienced a one-night encounter. Shaken, in shame and in fear, she takes to the streets in an effort to meet up with her ex-lover who has exchanged her for another woman. Also, at this same time, she telephones her husband with whom she keeps up a strange relationship, marked by scars from the past and by reality that both try to ignore. Even amid the madness of the city and at a distance of kilometers, Ling and her husband actually forget their troubles and believe their relationship is still possible.

CHANG WAI HUNG

Born in 1963, he began a career as script writer in 1985, when he was admitted to actor Jackie Chan`s Golden Way producers as a trainee. He was second assistant to the director and screenwriter for The Enchanted Night, directed by legendary Chinese director Chor Yuen. After he left Golden Way, he wrote six other scripts, including Close Escape (1989) and Run and Kill (1993). A great upholder of independent production, Wai-hung directed his first film, After the Crescent, in 1997.
