Day-to-day life for some of the inhabitants from divers social classes in the city of São Paulo and their relationship to the various means of transport available to them in the city are the subject of this documentary. The characters include a middle-class housewife who takes her daughter to school at peak hours; a cleaning woman who covers 22 km a day on foot to save the money she would have to spend on transport; a bus driver and conductor subject to a long day?s work load. The characters describe a heavy, stressful routine for getting about, several hours long and they talk of their dreams, their religion, and their attitude towards life, all of which builds a sociological picture of the enormous human diversity characteristic of the São Paulo population.
