On a Sunday morning in 1963, in a bar, in a settlement in Minas, in Uruguay, road cleaner Rataplán, gravedigger Quintana, lottery salesman Siete y Tres Diez, and the dog, Aquino, are all waiting for Rodriguez who is going to take them to see the ocean for the first time. El Vasco, the foreman, is going with them, but against his will. A newcomer from Montevideo, a well-dressed stranger, joins the excursion at the last minute. During the trip, in the hot sun, in Rodriguez’ old truck, little by little, the six characters tell of their particular way of life and talk about understanding the world and people. An adaptation of a short story by the same name by Uruguay writer Juan José Morsoli.
