Reza and Muna are a young couple promised to one another in childhood. After so many years, however, their families view any commitment as a thing of the past. This is not acceptable to Reza and Muna who still feel the same as they did when they were children. They take it upon themselves to speak out against the family decision. Without holding to traditional forms in narrative, the director makes the characters interrupt sequences to explain about their memories and interpret facts. And the story progresses somewhere between fact and fiction. ?It has been a while now, since I enjoyed a film as much. I enjoyed every minute of this one?, declared renowned Iranian Director Abbas Kiarostami about this production that was part of several festivals in Iran and abroad. It was awarded a prize as the best of the year at the 3rd Iranian Festival in Teheran, 1999. One curious fact is that the principal members of the cast belong to the family of the director.

ALI REZA DAVUDNEZHAD

Born in 1953, in Teheran. He began his career as a script writer, and directed his first film at the age of 20 - The Artery. His second film Nazarin, was made soon after, the following year. The third, Lovingly, was never finished because the principal actor (and best friend of the director) drowned. He directed Forbidden (1978), The Spider House (1983), and The Prize (1984). He abandoned the cinema temporarily and over the next years only wrote the script for The Bride. In 1992, directed The Need. Two years later, he directed Lovingly.
