Zhu Kun is a college student that comes from the countryside. His cousin, Zhu Ming, failed the National College Entrance Examination, which made him stay at his hometown. People in their hometown feel that Zhu Kun has great prospects in the future. However, Zhu Kun has his own hardship, money sent by his family can not afford his daily life at all, he has to attend the foreign English test for his classmate constantly, meanwhile, he also writes articles for magazines just to earn more pocket money. Zhu Kun and his cousin start looking for a job. During that period they come through cheating, discrimination etc. Zhu Ming stays in the house rented by Zhu Kun. Contradiction comes into Ming and Kun’s girlfriend little by little, it also influenced Kun’s attitude to his cousin. After having the dinner for New Year, they went together for the ancestor worship. Suffered from all kinds of frustration, Ming made up his mind for going home. Kun stands on the pier seeing the ship sailing away.
