The confused relationship between two talented musicians - Anton Newcombe, leader of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Courtney Taylor, head of the Dandy Warhols - is the central theme for this documentary. The director dissects the friendship and the bitter rivalry between the two, following along with their love affairs and obsessions, concerts and recording sessions, imprisonment and death threats, and the search on the part of both for a place in the sun in the phonographic industry. The way in which each one deals with success is what distinguishes and also renders the two apart. DIG! broaches a theme that is recurrent in the world of art: how can a spirit of genius fit in with a world that is as staid? Is autodestruction inevitable to preserve integrity?

ONDI TIMONER

Graduated from Yale University in 1994. She was outstanding at the start of her career with a documentary Voices From Inside Time, that earned him the Yale Film Prize. Soon after, she won the Bettina Russel Grand Jury Prize, in Canada, for the film The Nature of the Beast. Passionately fond of music, she has directed several clips and documentaries on the subject.
