The routine of the Neapolitan fishermen who decide to try their luck off the coast of Sicily is not exactly easy. Even there, fish are scarce. To revert the situation, Salvatore, the owner of a boat, decides to venture into African waters where there is an abundance of fish, even though he runs the risk of losing all should he be arrested by the coast guard. It is night. Salvatore, Franco, Samir, and Giovanni are about to try their luck once more. In the midst of the fishing expedition, they are intercepted. The police fire. They manage to get away. The risk they ran causes them to re-think their lives. Franco would like to immigrate with his wife Rosa to the U.S. Salvatore would like to return to Naples, even though to do so he must face the local mafia. The options that remain for them are few and uncertain.
