Darini is the name given to a ritual for intiation of the Xavante Indians that occurs only every fifteen years. Darini teaches the children the importance of their culture by means of music and dance repeated daily for the space of one month. The young Xavantes themselves made the film, on request of the ancients in the village where they live, as a form of documenting the culture for future generations.

Xavante Indians that live in the village of Etenhiritipá on indigenous land in Pimentel Barbosa, north of Mato Grosso state. The population is of some 550 persons who took part in the filming of Darini, The Xavante Spiritual Iniciation. Caimi and Jorge have completed three other similar projects. To finalize the document, they had the support of the Methodist School of Communication and the Nossa Tribo NGO.
