The summer of 1968. Anders and Börje are friends in a small city in up-country Sweden, where practically nothing ever happens. Expectations girate around an icecream in the city square or in outings with Billy and his gang. Summer does not seem that inspiring. Until a bus arrives and from it, in this order, emerge: high heels, red fingernails, and then Sofia, a teenage double of Brigitte Bardot. The girl is to transform the town. Both boys will do all they can to win her, including making a film in which she will be the only star.

DANIEL FRIDELL

Born in 1967. In 1991, he began a career with image, initially as a director of videoclips and musical series. The following year, he made his first feature, The Searchers. Two years later, he directed, produced, and wrote the script for Cry (winner of the Frankfurt Film Festival), based on the book of the same name. In 1995, he worked in the post-production of Twister and directed Juvenis - Global Youth for TV. In 1996, he wrote the scripts for Svensken and Rocky and I. His next film, Beneath the Surface (1997), was shown at twelve festivals the world over. Swedish Beauty is his third feature.
