A historical fantasy on Napoleon Bonaparte’ exile on the island of Saint Helena, following defeat by the English at Waterloo. There, his coreligionaries discover the existence of Eugene, an alcoholic and perfect double. In a conspiracy to recover the power, Eugene takes the place of Napoleon and the Emperor escapes incognito to Paris. Things, however, do not work out as planned. In Paris, where he is compelled to live as a common citizen, Napoleon falls in love with a beautiful widow and devotes himself to helping her build up her business once more. Meanwhile, Eugene is seduced by power and refuses to reveal his true identity when this proves necessary.

ALAN TAYLOR

Born in the U.S., in 1966, he studied cinema at New York University where he made his first film, a short film, That Burning Question (1988). He made his first feature, Palookaville, in 1995. Since then, he has devoted himself mainly to television, directing episodes from series such as “The Sopranos”, “Sex and the City”, “The West Wing”, and “Six Feet Under”.
