A journey along the paths where the hip-hop movement in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte originates. The film presents anonymous youngsters who are part of the movement and some of the most typical involved: Thaíde and Mano Brown, África Bannbaataa, Nelson Triunfo, Lady Rap, Shyrlane, and others. They share a common goal - an effort to strengthen their identity, to attribute renewed value to African cultural aspects, recover self-esteem, and comprehend social complexity through cultural manifestations generated in the favelas and on the outskirts of cities. The cultural industry is also questioned, for the hip-hoppers go beyond the system of hegemonic production to form a new sphere of ethical, aesthetic, and political action.
