Appaloosa is a typical western town that is being terrorized by a vicious rancher and his thuggish hired hands. The local sheriff and his deputy are ruthlessly gunned down by Bragg, the rancher who recognizes no law but his own. To the defenseless local townspeople, two gunmen friends Virgil and Everett are a sight for sore eyes when they ride into town. Virgil asks for complete power, and it is eventually granted; he pins on his sheriff`s badge and appoints Everett his deputy. An uneasy peace descends, and things take a turn for the better when the local stagecoach arrives. Out steps young widow Allison, a woman with a dubious past who instantly catches Virgil`s eye.

ED HARRIS

Born in Tenafly, New Jersey. He is an Academy Award®-nominated actor for performances in films like Apollo 13 (1995), e The Truman Show (1998). He also acted in The Hours (2002) and A History of Violence (2005), both films shown at the 29th Mostra and Gone Baby Gone (2007), shown at the 31st Mostra. He made his directorial debut with Pollock (2000). Appaloosa is his second feature.
