A gang of youngsters wandering through the suburbs of Teheran come across a cassete tape. They listen to the tape and learn about the life of a young couple, Mahmoud and Pari. He is a laborer on the railroads, deeply in love with his wife who is smitten with mental illness. One day, Mahmoud discovers that Pari has disappeared. He leaves off his job to go in search of his wife. He wanders off through the Iranian capital in search of his wife and meets up with a number of people. Most of these encounters, however, are unhappy, for the characters that cross his path respond to his appeal crudely, fraught with debauchery and malice. The film is inspired in the struggle of the new generation in Iran, rising against the taboos of their society.
