In the forties, two students are sentenced to each spend seven years at the Cuelgamuros (today known as Valle de Los Caídos), for painting phrases that were opposed to Dictator Franco?s government on the university walls. Even so, they are not satisfied. They again challenge the regime and manage to get away. In their flight to France, they try to rid themselves of their pursuers and, with two American girls, they travel in a convertible and are the main characters of an intense road-movie.

Born in Madrid, 1946. In 1977, he directed his first feature film, Paper Tigers. His next films were La Mano Negra (1980), Estoy en Crisis (1982), the international big-budget production Star Knight (1985), Rosa Rosae (1993), Alegre Ma Non Troppo (1994), Los Años Bárbaros (1998), Cuarteto de la Habana (1998) and Al Sur de Granada (2002).
