Angela was born in Ballaró, a market district in the surroundings of Palermo (Italy). She was married when she was only 12 years old to Saro. There is a severe economic and social crisis in her city and they both opt for the same profession: drug traffic. To her, it all seems so fascinating, for she has a fondness for luxury and money, even though at high risk, mainly in the distribution of heroine. When she meets Masino, she believes he is a policeman, but she soon discovers he is, in truth, an assassin in league with her husband. Angelo and Masino start on a passionate and troubled love affair after Saro is arrested. She is so very young, but will have to face not only her own loneliness, but also a world of crime, in which the rules and codes unwritten as they are, however rigid and inflexible, are made by men.

ROBERTA TORRE

Born in Milan in 1964, she studied philosophy before devoting herself to cinema. She made her first short film, Angelesse, in 1991. In 1996, she directed Verginella, a short film on music and the Neapolitan singers set in the streets of Palermo. After this short musical, she became known and made her first two features, both musicals: To Die for Tano (1997), that competed in the Venice Festival, and South Side Story (1998), a contemporary revision of “Romeu e Julieta”, set in the south of Italy.
