Iiris Vaara is thirty and lives in a world of dreams of the cinema, obviously waiting for a great love that will release her from lethargy and afford her more palpable fantasies - just as in the films she watches so obsessively. Nobody is surprised when she falls for a young film director with a wolf?s grin who knows how to correspond perfectly to her yearnings, never missing a chance in the film-like dialogs he engages in with her. But what will happen when the stock of witty repartee comes to an end? And when the illusion of infinite intelligence she credits her beloved with begins to fray? Poor Iiris is then to witness a dramatic whirl of emotion involving her feelings and those of all her closest friends.

Finnish director, he studied cinema at the Finnish University of Arts and, later, in the United States. Credits before Lovers and Leavers (2002) go to a series of comedies and dramas for TV, such as "Kotikatu" (1995) and "Academy of the Hearts" (1998), as also documentaries, such as Ensi Tiistaina Brahms (1998). The 24th Mostra showed his fiction feature Restless (2000).
