A Recovering Love

Chunhua, mother of a mentally handicapped child, works in a small restaurant in a mining city in the north of China. Laoguo, a poor bachelor, is one of the miners. The small restaurant owner is an enthusiastic woman who finds a way to put them together, and under her blessings, they get married.

Laoguo is happy but Chunhua has been depressed all along, and began to cool gradually. She wishes his death. Laoguo who is a virtuous man and is always concerned about her. In fact, Chunhua feels helpless because of her son’ deficiency and worried about his future. One night, Laoguo save Chunhua`s life when she is in danger, without questioning the reasons. Gradually, Chunhua give up her original thoughts and begins to treat Laoguo better. But suddenly, Laoguo gets an incurable disease and thinking about his wife and her son’ future, he decides to cause an accident in the mine so she can be paid the insurance money.

Four months later, spring comes. Chunhua visit Laoguo`s grave to apologize and to say goodbye. She will return to her hometown with her son.
