Amargosa is the true story of Martha Becket, dancer and performer, who opted of her own free choice for reclusion in a remote ghost city in Death Valley Junction in California. The town belonged to the Pacific Coast Borax Company, but had been abandoned, left, years before, out in the scorching sun of the Californian desert. A dancer on Broadway, Becket ended her career in the sixties, after three decades of success. With her husband Tom, she found the ghost town and decided to make it her creative refuge. In six years, she restored a former theater and built her "opera house". The start was difficult, but today Becket?s performances of dance and mimic rapidly sell out. A witness to a struggle for a dream. Amargosa is the name given to an old hotel in the town.
