Lamont is of Japanese descent. He makes a living as a taxi driver in the mountain town of Baguio in the Philippines. In spite of all of his efforts to earn more money, his day-to-day life is hard and restricted. His wife, Isabelle, who has worked as a maid in a great house, dreams of a life of riches, and decides to travel abroad in search of better opportunity, leaving her small children in the care of her husband. While Lamont goes to the airport to see his wife off, the children are entrusted to a relative who is to take them to North Lubong, Lamont`s birthplace. This delightful village has no church, no electricity, and no road. The inhabitants live out their lives together, in harmony with nature. Lamont goes back home to his own town and rediscovers the possibility of happiness.
