Three ages of life. Three seasons on the edge of rural eastern Bulgaria. The movie follows Petar at eight, eighteen and eighty-two years old. He lives the time of his humble and common life: work, land, nature. In his village, outside the village, and in the beating sun and the freezing snow. Over the years, this man goes on his way and accepts his destiny without regret. The course of his monotonous existence seems to have been written out in advance and be bereft of meaning. In spite of everything, an invisible force exists within him that mysteriously propels him forwards, towards death.

Kamen Kalev

Born in Burgas, Bulgaria, in 1975. His debut feature film Eastern Plays (2009, 33rd Mostra) was selected to the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes and was exhibited and awarded at other international film festivals. He also made The Island (2011), Face Down (2015) and the segment My Dear Night (2014) of The Bridges of Sarajevo (2014, 38th Mostra), which also featured works by directors such as Jean-Luc Godard and Ursula Meier.
